The first time I visited Bulgaria, I went on a wine tasting and picked up one of the best sparkling rose wines I’ve tasted for under €10, then on the next trip I bought several bottles in the supermarket for €3 to €7. I was just picking blindly though, not really knowing what was…

7 Gear Ideas for Packing Better and Lighter

I go on the road with a lot of different kinds of bags, both suitcases and travel backpacks. Sometimes I know I can check one so I’m not all that careful about it—and sometimes it’s actually cheaper to do that on a budget airline—but on any trip I can travel with just a carry-on…

An Athens Central Market Tour by Eatwith

If I lived here, I’d be tempted to buy a few shopping bags’ worth of goodies. We’re seeing dozens of nut varieties, different nut butters grinded in front of us, 30 kinds of olives, 20 kinds of cheeses, 30 varieties of teas, beautiful fruits and vegetables, fresh fish, coffee coming out of a roaster,…

One reason I’m not a country counter is that travel shouldn’t be a competition, but the other is that I like to return to countries to explore them in more depth. As far as what to see in Colombia, I have really only scratched the surface in my four visits there. I’m sure I’ll…

Is Sofia Worth Visiting? It’s Really Growing on Me…

ByTim Leffel 04/12/202304/12/2023

Is Sofia worth visiting? I’ve actually seen this exact question from people on social media and there are usually a lot of “meh” kinds of answers from past visitors. I just landed in Bulgaria’s capital city for the third time though, sticking around for more than a day this time, and I’d respond a…
