Not France, that’s for sure. According to the latest “Arbitrage” rundown from the Wall Street Journal, a large Pizza Hut pan pizza with pepperoni will cost you 19 euros, or $27.60 in today’s dollars. It had better be good! I think I’d rather order one in Manila, where it’s $6.58. These comparisons are always…

What’s to See in Moravia?

ByTim Leffel 10/22/200704/09/2020

There are a lot of good reasons for visiting the Moravia area of the Czech Republic, which gets about 1/100 the crowds of the country’s capital city. My previous Czech trip posts were on rural Czech prices, the sleepy town of Znojmo, and what it’s like to go cycling through Moravian wine country. Of…

After a train debacle coming from Hungary, where an Austrian conductor literally slammed a train door in…

My new MSNBC column (via Tripso) is out now, called Reservations About Making Reservations. Of course the majority of backpackers go for months or a year finding rooms on the fly without even thinking about it, but from the comments I’ve gotten already on Tripso, you’d think I proposed some radical idea that’s going…

Tasting Tequila in the Town of Tequila

ByTim Leffel 10/22/200607/24/2020

This post is from my first visit to the town of Tequila in 2006, before it really took off. The Tequila region of Mexico was just coming off the announcement that it got a UNESCO World Heritage designation and was starting to gear up for more visitors. Consider this a snapshot before the big…
